I have raised two running children, one competitive and one not.

I have learned to run in ice and snow and I don't complain.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Work towards a faster marathon by Spring 2012.

Get my 5K down to 21:30.

Place in my division at duathlon and triathlon.

Train for biathlon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Joining Forrest Gump

Run was supposed to be wu, then 2 miles easy, 4 and mp, then 2 easy again.  The strides during wu felt great; nothing hurt at all and I felt very good.  I felt good for the mp miles also, but started running them with this new guy in our group, and didn't realize that I was going WAY too fast.  Ran 7:42 instead of 8:28.  The, OF COURSE, I got busted by the coach, who just loves to pick on me anyway.  So I got a big lecture in the end about mental discipline and stuff, blah, blah, blah.  I was SO GOOD the rest of the time, just one tiny slip up on pace, not even on purpose, and I get IN TROUBLE.  Something about this situation just makes me feel like I'm in grade school again, disrupting the whole class.

Aside from that bit of unpleasantness, it felt so nice to run at a quicker pace again and have nothing hurting!  I stopped the marathon miles a speck early just because my leg felt a bit tight and I didn't want to push it.  I bit of stretching and I did the cd, then the bike ride home with no complaining from the leg.  YAHOO!

The bike ride to and from the workout was about 20 minutes each way.

 Have a nice weekend!

Social pace creep-up phenomenon. That has happened to me too, and I always pay for it a little later in the run. But it's hardly a discipline issue! Sheesh. Well, good run anyway. I'm glad things are feeling good.

You're such a trouble maker!

Glad the workout went well.

Well, Sno, I can see his point about mental discipline. I was supposed to run those miles at marathon pace, and I DO have a Garmin, so I should have been able to achieve it. But the joy of just running fast after so long sort of overtook me :). The good news is that even now, I haven't had to pay for it, and the leg still feels great! So, in retrospect, I think it was a good "test"!

I sure as heck would notice if I was running 7:42 instead of 8:28. I'd be sucking wind. You are just naturally very fast. The only downside of running too fast I can see, if you're not hurting afterwards, is that you missed out on some practice of feeling the marathon pace. But since you're not going to run Newport, that's not really a big deal at this point.

I'm with Carolyn! You deserve a good feeling fast pace run! An A+++ performance in my book! :)

I think you should make a speed plan for me...I think that is what I will focus on after the 1/2 in June and that is as long as my ITB doesn't flair up
